Brother we left that candle burning.

Commissioned by @vincentdonofrio inspired by our collaborations together ~ in homage to Stanley Kubrick.

The unsolvable riddles of the crumpled map,

Crumpled in my lap,

I stretched it out,

Placed it down,

The location of the old town.

I walked past ruins of crumbling stone,

Ancient piles of bones,

The blade and the cradle on that dangerous road.

I know you’ve paved this way before,

Opened all those doors.

They’re unimaginable shadows on the walls.

A cup of serpents, spiders running up and down the silk curtains,

Letters that we got from that merchant,

Wax sealed and the matches kept in that draw.

Brother, we left this candle burning,

And the manner, lit up in a roar.
